What is the lemon law regarding a used car with a warrenty?

son brought car from used car dealership, test drove it around block, no problem, drove it home oil pouring out of car.

took it back next day and has been getting the run around for 2 weeks, all kind of excuses as to getting it fixed, what can we do?

As stated earlier no lemon law for used cars, but stay on them to fix it especially having the warranty. Be nice don't don't take no for an answear, maybe see if they will let u return that one and purchase another. Next time having your personal mechanic check it out first. But these things happen they are machines.

As stated earlier, will vary from state to state.....almost confident 100% that "lemon laws" do not apply to used vehicles....these laws are in effect for new cars only......usually the same problem has to occurr several times for it to apply......but does not apply to used cars......the law that applies here is "let the buyer beware".....sorry!

it may vary by state. here is NYs:

good luck!

State laws vary, but one thing is positive and that's the fact that Lemon Law applies to new car purchases only, never used cars. Depending on how your warrenty is written, you may be able to get the Dealer Services Division in your state, to help you force the repairs be made. Test driving a car around the block is not the proper way to test a car. You need to take far more time, and try it in different situations, before making such an important decision. Had you taken more time, the oil situation would have been noticed, and you wouldn't be having this headache.
