I worked in the tanning industry for several years so I'll try and "shed some light on the situation!" (get it? ok ok.. bad joke :-P) anyway, you know your skin best. To Burn is Bad. But Tanning (indoor or outdoor) can be quite helpful for supplementing the all important but commonly deficient Vitamin D (aka the sunshine vitamin). Tip is to do it little by little, slowly build up your base. Using an SPF 70 for only a couple hours outside is definitely being careful.. back to back tanning days are a little different. Sometimes your skin is still actively changing due to the previous days UV exposure. You could do the exact same thing (70 SPF, couple hours) and this time burn. This could be different with a developed base tan. The upside of using tanning salons is that it is a controlled environment (choose the intensity and time) whereas outside the UV levels fluctuate and it's easy to fall asleep outside! the sun does not have an OFF switch!
2-3 times/month is very mild and when you follow the correct tanning regimes (little by little) you will get a healthy (and needed) dose of Vitamin D!
Oh yes hun! if your only going to do it 2-3 times month than you should be fine!!
Its ppl who do it every day or several times a week that are at high risk.
Just make sure you see your Dr. right away if you notice any new unusual Moles on your skin :)
You should NOT tan, You can get skin cancer and die, you are only young so I think u should not risk it! But if you think you need to don't use a machine, you can die from using one of those ONCE!
