If a used vehicle is bought with no warranty can it fall under the colorado lemon law?

I purchased it about two months ago adn it now has a severe transmission problem that is causing the vehicle to operate unsafely.

Any vehicle bought without warranty is not covered by any state "lemon law". If you have a written agreement from the party your purchased the vehicle from, stating that "the vehicle is in perfect working condition" this may fall under certain state statutes. Check your states consumer protection laws concerning private sales.

I believe most "lemon" laws only pertain to new cars and this sounds like it may have been a used car purchase. Most used cars now have a sticker in the window stating whether it has a warranty or is being sold "as is." If you purchased it "as is" you are stuck. However, if they are a reputable dealer, you might be able to persuade them to make good on it rather than risk TV exposure if you have a local TV station that might champion your cause on a consumer affairs segment - just a thought.

No. Lemon laws don't apply to used vehicles. And since we're on the subject, lemon laws only apply to serious electrical or mechanical defect that occur within the first 24 months and require more than 3 trips to a dealer for the same problem or the car is in the shop for more than 30 days for the same problem.

You'll have to get the transmission fixed on your own.
